Dragon Dragoon

The presence of dragons is a pretty good indicator that something is the kind of fantasy I don't really like. The scalèd beasts are useful for comedy, at times, though. My dad put the image of dragons on horseback into my head and I couldn't resist.

The Dragon of Earaness? Glaurung? SMAUG? Don't be hate'n on dragons! Dragonheart wasn't their fault. Remember Dragonslayer!

BTW we the people need photos of your Steerpike getup.

I don't dislike the dragons themselves – they're just a pretty reliable harbinger of Not My Kind of Fantasy. In my limited experience.

Yet the best fantasy I can name, the archetypes of the genre, all have dragons in them! Beowulf, LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion... Sure there's a lot of crappy fantasy with dragons.... but there's just a lot of crappy fantasy! I seem to recall Discworld having the odd dragon mentioned (if not specifically featured in any of the books I've read...) Harry Potter even!

LOVE THE DRAGON!

don't chase the dragon but LOVE IT!

Hahaha that's pretty funny. I think Dragons are the only thing that I like in fantasy...

Then you and I shall have a delightful dragon party in which we, and only others of our ilk shall be allowed to attend. Oh and such fun we shall have! Tee Tiddle De Dum!
